Our trays are of vegetable origin with most of them being cellulose with a surface coating based on corn and potato starches in order to further protect the food they will contain.

A biodegradable product is one that is broken down by the action of microorganisms or bacteria that are present in nature. A compostable product, in addition to being biodegradable, ends up being a fertilizer or compost that can be used as a natural fertilizer. Everything that can be composted is also biodegradable, but biodegradable does not have to be compostable.

In our case, our trays have the OK-Compost certification which indicates that they are both biodegradable and compostable.

Our trays have passed the most rigorous compostability study according to the current standard (EN 13432:2000), which means that in 12 weeks the tray will have biodegraded and that the resulting compost allows the growth of new plant species.

As it is a 100% compostable product our trays can go to the organic waste container or also to the paper recycling container because it is made of very high-quality cellulose.

Absolutely. Cellulose trays are safe for food and do not affect organoleptic properties throughout the supply chain. In order to extend the shelf life of the food in our trays we have provided them with a surface treatment that protects the food even more, guaranteeing the strictest conditions for food contact.

It depends to a large extent on the content. We have cases of offering shelf life above 12 days.

Our trays have the same colour as our raw material: 100% vegetable cellulose. We do not alter the cellulose; we just manipulate it to convert it into trays through our patented thermoforming process.
